Eye Check-up at Home in Gurgaon - Complete Eye Care

Home Eye Check-up at Home in Gurgaon

Most people put off eye tests. The reasons are familiar: the clinic is far, the traffic is bad, there is no one free to drive an elderly parent, or the child refuses to sit still in a waiting room. A few months turn into a few years, and by the time vision becomes a real problem, the eyes have already been under strain for a long while.

Our home eye checkup service in Gurgaon exists for exactly these situations. Instead of you coming to us, a trained member of the Complete Eye Care team visits your house, tests your vision, looks at the general health of your eyes, and tells you plainly what they found. The team works under the guidance of Dr. Parul Sony (MD, AIIMS; FRCS), who has more than 25 years of experience in ophthalmology and leads our centre at Eros City Square, Sector 49-50.

We visit homes across Gurgaon, including [areas: DLF Phases 1-5, Golf Course Road, Sohna Road, Sushant Lok, South City, Nirvana Country, Sector 49-50, and nearby sectors].

Why a Home Eye Test Makes Sense for Many Families

A clinic visit is the best option when you can travel comfortably, because every machine is in one place. But for plenty of people, the trip itself is the obstacle. A home visit removes it.

For senior citizens. Older adults are the group most likely to develop cataracts, glaucoma, and age-related changes in the retina, and also the group most likely to skip appointments. Climbing stairs, sitting in a car for an hour, and waiting in a crowded room can be tiring or even risky for someone with weak knees, a heart condition or poor balance. At home, they are relaxed, they have their medicines and old reports at hand, and a family member can sit in on the conversation.

For people recovering from surgery or illness. If your doctor has told you to rest, a home visit lets you keep an eye on your vision without stepping out.

For children. Kids often behave very differently in an unfamiliar clinic. At home, with a parent nearby and a favourite toy on the table, they usually cooperate better, and that gives a more reliable reading.

For working professionals. Long hours on a laptop and phone lead to dryness, headaches, and tired eyes, and most people brush this off. If you can’t find a free weekday slot, a home visit on a Saturday morning can fit around your schedule.

For whole families. One visit can cover grandparents, parents, and children together, which saves everyone several separate trips.

What Happens During the Visit

We keep the process simple and unhurried. Here is how a typical home visit runs.

1. A conversation first. Before any test, we ask how your eyes feel. Do you get headaches in the evening? Do you struggle with night driving? Has reading become harder? We also ask about diabetes, blood pressure, previous eye surgery, current medicines, and any family history of eye disease. These answers often point us toward what to look for.

2. Vision testing. We check how clearly you see at a distance and up close. If your sight isn’t sharp, we work out your spectacle power, whether you are short-sighted, long-sighted, have astigmatism, or need reading glasses after 40.

3. Basic eye health screening. We examine the outer parts of the eye, check how your pupils react to light, and look at eye movement and alignment. [Confirm and edit: If your team carries a portable device for eye pressure or retina photographs, mention it here. Remove this line if not.]

4. A clear explanation. We tell you what we found in everyday words. If your eyes are healthy and only need glasses, we say so. If something needs a closer look, we explain what and why.

5. Prescription and next steps. You receive a written prescription if you need spectacles. If further tests are needed, we help you book them at our Gurgaon clinic, and your home visit findings go along with you so nothing is repeated without reason.

What a Home Check Up Can and Cannot Do

It is worth being honest here, because this is where many home services oversell.

A home eye checkup is a good screening and a very practical first step. For a person who simply needs new glasses or hasn’t had their eyes looked at in years, it may be all that is required.

But some eye conditions can only be found with equipment that stays in a clinic. A dilated retina examination, which is how doctors detect diabetic retinopathy and retinal tears, needs eye drops and a proper examination setup. Glaucoma often needs eye pressure measurement, optic nerve imaging, and a visual field test. Cataract planning needs detailed measurements of the eye. Corneal conditions like keratoconus need mapping of the corneal surface.

If your home visit suggests any of these, we will tell you directly and arrange the follow-up at our clinic. You will not be asked to come in without a reason, and you will not be told that everything is fine when it needs more testing.

Warning Signs: Don’t Wait for a Routine Visit

Book an eye checkup soon if you or someone at home has any of these:
● Vision that is getting blurrier or more cloudy over weeks or months
● Headaches after reading, studying, or using screens
● Eye pain, ongoing redness, or constant watering
● Halos around lights, especially at night
● A child who squints, tilts the head, sits very close to the TV, or rubs the eyes often
● Difficulty reading small print, or holding a phone or newspaper at arm’s length
● Frequent changes in glasses power
● Diabetes or high blood pressure with no eye check in the past year
● A family history of glaucoma, cataract, or retinal disease

Please note: Sudden loss of vision, a sudden burst of new floaters or flashes of light, a curtain-like shadow across your sight, or severe eye pain with redness are emergencies. Don’t wait for a home appointment. Go to an eye hospital immediately.

How Often Should You Get Your Eyes Checked?

There is no single answer, but these are sensible gaps for most people:
● Children: At least once before starting school, and every year if they wear glasses. Earlier if you notice squinting or poor reading.
● Adults under 40 with no problems: Every one to two years.
● Adults over 40: Once a year. This is the age when reading difficulty begins, and when glaucoma and early cataract can start without any symptoms.
● People with diabetes: Once a year at the minimum, with a dilated retina exam. Your doctor may advise more often.
● Seniors above 60: Yearly, or as advised by your eye specialist.
